Gabriella Clarke MHS MNCS (ACC).
When I was 18 months old I experienced my first adverse childhood event (ACE) which no doubt led to many of the problems I was going to face further down the line. I can remember having IBS like symptoms from the age of about 6 and experiencing states of panic as I lay in bed at night thinking whilst trying to fall asleep. I had recurrent dreams that were linked to the accident I was in as a baby. By age 14 I was also diagnosed with Raynaud’s phenomenon and I had some back pain so I decided to learn and practise yoga to help manage my symptoms. My teenage years were exciting and dangerous and I thought everything was fine. No doubt all the teenage distractions like exams, boys, going out, music and alcohol helped mask any underlying dis-ease.
Things took a dramatic turn for the worse when I moved out of my family home aged 19 and attempted to try and fend for myself. It was then that I was first diagnosed with Depression, Anxiety Disorder and in my 20s I was also diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. My mental health has also had a very negative impact on my body but I have lived to tell the tale – albeit less physically able than I used to be. The reason I am sharing this with you is because it is led me to where I am today and to provide the services that you see on this website.
I could bore you with other things I’ve done like work in hospitals, care homes, run a radio show, volunteered, travelled etc. but I’ll let you explore the rest of the website. The biggest take home on health that I want to finish with is that less is more. If you want to improve your health; eat better, sleep better, calm your mind, move your body in healthy ways (nothing too intense), get some sunshine, connect with nature and spend time with people that are good for you – rather than the negative, draining ones. My services aim to help you do just this and many are available via telephone, email and Skype if you cannot get to my practice.
